VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering with Koala Action Gympie Region

How can YOU help koalas

Want to come along and work with our wonderful volunteers, meet new people with an interest in our natural environment and learn all about koalas and how you can help them.

To Volunteer contact Our Secretary at secretary@kagr.org.au

Planting Days

We plant habitat for koalas on both public land and private properties and are always looking for volunteers to help. Training is provided.

You will also learn a valuable skill on how to plant trees at your place.

Stalls at Festivals

Talk to people with questions about koalas. We help our members to do this by providing them with a guide of regularly discussed matters. We use a buddy system while you are learning.

Meet all kinds of people who love koalas and want to learn how to help them. Sometimes we do children’s craft activities and are always on the lookout for new ideas and creative people to assist.

Our organisation adheres to the national standards for volunteer involvement.

Writing articles for newspapers and other media

Our goal is to create a koala aware community. To this end we regularly write short, seasonally relevant articles for our local newspapers and magazines.

Assistance with writing these articles is always welcome.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

By helping to grow our membership, you play a vital role in ensuring the future wellbeing of koalas in our region. You’ll receive regular news and notifications of events and meetings, full voting rights, and access to koala tree planting on your property – including a suitability assessment – for a one-off cost of $100.

We hold general members meetings at Gympie & District Landcare at 9:30 AM on the third Tuesday of every month. We welcome input from all of our members. Come along and share your interest with like-minded people.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and work, and pay our respects to elders' past, present and emerging.
