About Us

BRIEF HISTORY

Welcome to Koala Action Gympie Region Inc.

Our group was formed in 2015 by concerned residents, all of whom had koalas on their properties.  This group became a public voice for the koalas in the community to educate the general public to support this vulnerable species.

If you would like to join us and make a difference visit our Volunteering page for how you can help.

We hold general members meetings at Gympie & District Landcare at 9:30 AM on the third Tuesday of every month. We welcome input from all of our members – come along and share your interest with like-minded people.

The more members we have the better! Memberships are available in three tiers: Annual Individual ($20), Annual Family ($30), and Annual Pensioner/Student ($10). By becoming a member, you’ll receive regular news and notifications of events and meetings, full voting rights, and access to koala tree planting on your property – including a suitability assessment – for a one-off cost of $100.

We value contributions from our members:

  • In spreading the word about how to report a koala sighting
  • Assisting with our stalls at various public events
  • Helping us to plant trees for koala habitat

Volunteering also helps you:

  • Make a real impact on local koala conservation

  • Connect with like-minded people in your community

  • Learn new skills and gain hands-on experience in environmental action

You can sign up using the form at the bottom of the page or by following this link.
